The Working Group on Sustainable Development, under the leadership of Katriina Siivonen and Gábor Bartus, serves as a pivotal platform in addressing crucial environmental policy matters encountered by advisory councils across Europe, spanning national and regional levels. Our core mission revolves around facilitating the exchange of invaluable experiences and expertise among our network of council members and staff from diverse councils.

Our endeavors encompass advocating for sustainable objectives and supportive policies, engaging stakeholders through webinars, enhancing capacity within our network, and crucially, disseminating knowledge on environmental and ecological topics.

The Sustainable Development Working Group engages in various activities to promote collaboration and advance sustainable development agendas. These include facilitating exchanges with the EU Council presidency, partnering with the European Sustainable Development Network (ESDN), organizing online sessions for knowledge exchange and capacity-building, and participating in sessions at the High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) and other United Nations conferences. Through these initiatives, the group contributes to shaping sustainable development policies and fostering dialogue at both European and international levels.

These initiatives underscore our steadfast commitment to fostering constructive engagement with policymakers and stakeholders. Through our proactive involvement in policy formulation and facilitation of dialogues on critical environmental issues, we aim to contribute significantly to informed decision-making processes and promote consensus-building among governmental and non-governmental stakeholders alike.
